She participated in the Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels and, on the sidelines of this meeting, the heads of diplomacy from the European Union met with the minister of foreign affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Mihai Popsoi. "We can say very clearly, and this was an opinion shared by the other foreign ministers, that there was an attempt to undermine the democratic electoral process and divert the European path of the Republic of Moldova," Odobescu emphasised. Thus, according to Luminita Odobescu, officials are making efforts to find ways to support the authorities in Chisinau to face hybrid threats and to strengthen the European path of this country. "We believe that through the positive result of this referendum, the Republic of Moldova has a real perspective to connect irreversibly to the European project, as the only strategic option that can ensure security, peace and prosperity in the Republic of Moldova," added Odobescu. She called for coordination to counter hybrid threats. "The magnitude of Russia's hybrid actions, but also the huge financial resources that Russia mobilized in the election in the Republic of Moldova and in the referendum, in order to divert this country's European path, made us ask ourselves the question and see how we can better coordinate, not only at the European level, at the level of the European Union, but also within NATO, to counter these hybrid actions. The risk is equally high not only for the Republic of Moldova and Georgia, but also for other European states, looking at what Russia was able to do, including by using media channels," said Odobescu. The Romanian minister believes that the risks are not as high for the EU states, but countries must be vigilant. "The magnitude and diversity of Russia's hybrid actions were very visible in the Republic of Moldova and it is very important to coordinate and see how we can better help the Republic of Moldova, in the context in which elections will be organized again next year," said Luminita Odobescu.
